Range, Median, Mode and Mean

Today in math we learned about range, median, mode and mean.  Something we would like to do this year is to record some of the lessons that we do, especially the ones that we know there will be homework.  We hope this will make it easier for you at home to help kids.  Please watch the video below and see what you think.  Please offer suggestions if you have any.

Minnesota History Center

We were very lucky for the opportunity to do a video conference today. We learned about the geography and history of Minnesota. Ms. Gustafson and I have been a part of quite a few virtual field trips and this one was by far the best one we have ever done.

Anja's Recess

Each year many of the teachers here at Salem put something into the Silent Auction for the carnival.  This year I had a good idea given to me from a parent in Ms. Humphries' class.  I will let one kid choose what we do for recess each Friday during May.  Anja won the auction and since this is the first Friday we decided to do a hike.  Behind the park that is adjacent to Salem is a short hiking trail that goes around a pond.  We had a great time hiking together and we saw lots of cool things.  Here are some pictures.
