Art Adventure

We've been learning about art at the art museum.  The theme of the lesson we are learning is "Friends, Family and Foes".  We saw a statue or sculpture of the Indian god Shiva.  We learned that he had a child that had an elephant head and another that was half peacock.  Another thing we learned is that he had an extra eye for wisdom.  There was also a painting that showed people wearing masks.  There was a skeleton in the air.  It was sort of freaky.

We have learned a lot about art.  Thank you to Anna's Mom for volunteering her time to teach us!

Our New iPad

On December 16th we got a new iPad from the PTSA. We have the iPad to help us learn. We want to give them a BIG THANK YOU!!! I am looking forward to posting on the blog, doing math, recording messages and stuff like that. By the way, I am typing this on the iPad

AR Party

Last week we had our AR party.We did it on Friday Dec 10th.We celebrated in Mr.Melde's classroom,and the far park. We went sledding,we watched a movie,we had snacks and a drink.We did this for a privilege for the people that made their AR goal.It was fun to see the people in the other classroom. Next time,I hope that everyone can make their AR goal.

What! Gone again???

It seems like Ms. G and I have been gone more than we have been in class.  Meetings and workshops seem to take up more and more time this year.  One thing that I would like to do is to start sharing with you what we have been learning about.  The conference that we attended on Monday and Tuesday was one that we have been looking forward to for a long time.  I have shared a link to the website that they set up for us.  The cool thing about the Ties Conference is that it was a gathering of around 3,000 teachers, principals and superintendents that are interested in learning more about technology and making sure that it makes it into the hands of your kids.  When I think back to my third grade in a tiny Catholic school in Onalaska, WI, I am just amazed at the things that kids are using now. We didn't have a computer in the school and only one television that didn't work most days.  Then it makes me think forward to what the students of the class of 2020 will have in terms of technology.  No doubt it will be things we have not even dreamed up.
